Have you ever felt that quiet nudge that something needed to change? Not just for the sake of change, but because it was the next right step?

That’s exactly how we felt when we decided to change our family publishing company’s name from Talya Press to Pathfinder Press.

Rebranding wasn’t something we rushed into. In fact, it came after months of prayer, conversations around the table, and that growing sense of “this fits who we’re becoming.” As we’ve walked through the transition, we’ve felt a peace and clarity. Our new name just feels right. And today, we want to share why.

The Journey to Pathfinder Press

Homeschooling has given our family a deep love for storytelling. Stories shape our days through read-alouds, conversations, imagination, and faith. The stories that have mattered most to us are the ones that point our hearts back to Jesus and encourage us to walk faithfully with Him.

When we first stepped into publishing, we saw it as a unique extension of our homeschool. It was a way to help our children take the stories bubbling inside them and turn them into something tangible: real books that could bless other families, too.

That’s when Talya Press was born. The name means “the dew of God” in Hebrew, and for a season, it fit us. It felt refreshing and life-giving, exactly what we needed at the time.

But over the past year, something shifted.

We kept coming back to one word: Pathfinder.

A pathfinder is someone who clears the way for others. Someone who goes first not because they have it all figured out, but because they’re willing to step forward and help others find their way. That vision captured our hearts. We realized this is what we’ve been longing to do: walk alongside families as they create meaningful stories rooted in biblical truth.

And just like that, Pathfinder Press came into focus.

Our Family’s Story (and Why This Name Matters So Much)

The name Pathfinder isn’t new to us.

When we began homeschooling, we named our homeschool Pathfinder Academy. It reflected our desire to be intentional, raising children who think deeply, love boldly, and follow God’s path even when it isn’t the easiest one.

In our family, we talk about being trailblazers for Jesus. Not perfect ones. Not flashy ones. Just faithful ones.

We wanted to bring that same heart into our books and our mission. Yes, we’re still writing and publishing as part of our homeschool journey, but we also feel called to help other families do the same.

Changing our name to Pathfinder Press felt like bringing everything under one roof. It reflects who we are, where we’ve been, and where God seems to be leading us next.

What’s Next for Pathfinder Press

At our core, nothing has changed. Our mission is still to spread joy, encouragement, and truth through stories. But our vision has grown.

We want to support families who feel a tug to write together but don’t know where to begin. Parents who want to nurture creativity without adding pressure. Kids who have wild, wonderful ideas and just need a little guidance to bring them to life.

Whether that looks like writing strategies, encouragement, or simply reminding you that you’re not behind and you’re not doing this wrong, we’re here to help.

This new name feels like a fresh start. Not just for us, but for every family who wants to step into storytelling with purpose and faith.

Your family has a story to tell, and we’d be honored to help you share it.

So tell us… what do you think of our new name?

We’d truly love to hear your thoughts in the comments
